Cooking With Pot

Why would you want to cook with weed? Well, there are a couple of reasons that come to mind:

1) Different high. Eating weed produces a different high than smoking weed does. Some describe it as "deeper" or as having more of a body sensation.

2) Sore throat. When you throat is feeling a little scratchy or flat out raw, you may not feel like smoking weed to get high.

3) Smell. If you are afraid that someone will smell pot on your breath or on your clothes, eating pot offers a valuable alternative.

4) Taste. This may be a shock to you, but some people don't enjoy the taste of weed when smoked. If you are one of these people, you can see how eating the weed in a sweet food will help to mask the taste and still get you high.

Don't expect to get high right away when eating pot in food. The high usually takes 40-60 minutes to fully "creep" up on you. Also, if you consume a lot, don't expect to do much the rest of the day. Eating pot can really burn you out.

Why Pot Butter?

Cooking with pot butter allows you the freedom to eat your weed without biting into any stems and seeds. Why would you spend so much time cooking a desert just to have it ruined by the suspended scraps of weed? By following the recipe at the bottom of this blog (Or see HERE), you will be able to create some pot butter to be used in any recipe you like. You can use the recipes I have given or create your own, but the key is to have fun.

For Best Results

For best results, don't smoke weed before eating your marijuana treats. You be will tempted to break out your best piece while waiting for the high to kick in; try to hold out. When you realize you are high (and haven't smoked herb all day) it's really cool!

Chronic vs. Stress

When cooking with marijuana it is recommended that you use a low to medium grade harvest. This may seem contrary to what you have read thus far, but good weed is simply too expensive to eat and the "high" produced by consuming quality weed is not worth the extra cost. Save your chronic for another day.

Hash Oil

Hash oil is the most potent form of cannabis available. If you are a marijuana or hashish smoker, you might have smoked hash oil before. If not, you've probably heard how strong it is compared to marijuana.

Step 1. Get some alcohol
The active ingredients in marijuana dissolve readily in alcohol. You can find rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) at any drug store. It is fairly cheap.

BE SURE YOU DO NOT GET DENATURED ALCOHOL. Denatured alcohol contains ingredients that can be POISON. "Denaturing" is a process where they add ingredients to make the alcohol unsuitable for human consumption. If you use "denatured" alcohol, you will wind up with hashish that is unsafe to consume, and it will probably taste terrible, too.

If you cannot find alcohol in your drug store, you can also use any high-alcohol content rum or vodka. If you are going to use rum or vodka you should note that it may contain additional ingredients that may modify the flavor of the resulting hashish, or make it harsher to smoke. Plain alcohol is to be preferred, and plain alcohol is cheaper.
Please be extremely careful when you are handling alcohol. Do not smoke or get near open flame while you are doing this process. Wouldn't want your face or house to burn down now would we.

Step 2. Grind up your weed.
You will get the most out of this process if your cannabis is ground as finely as possible. You can just soak the leaves whole and get satisfactory results, but grinding the weed will allow the alcohol to get to all the plant fiber to get the most out of it. Just put the weed in a blender and let it run until the material is thoroughly pulverized.

Step 3. Soak the marijuana in alcohol
Put the marijuana in a jar that can be sealed tightly and pour the alcohol over it. Put enough alcohol in so there is enough to cover the marijuana completely, and then some. Let it sit for about 24 hours. By the end of 24 hours, the alcohol will have turned distinctly green/sometimes brown.

Step 4. Filter out the plant fiber
Pour the liquid through a coffee filter into another jar. This will remove the plant fiber and give you a green/brown alcohol mixture that contains alcohol and the active ingredients from the marijuana.

Step 5. Let the alcohol evaporate.
The final step is to pour the mixture into a bowl and let it evaporate. Depending on the amount of alcohol in the mixture, it might take a day or so.
Some other methods recommend heating the mixture on the stove to evaporate off the alcohol. This can be dangerous, as described above. It is far better to just be patient and let the alcohol evaporate naturally. It takes a little longer, but it is far safer and a lot less work.
This will leave you with a form of hashish. The result will be a thick green kind of tar. It can be difficult to work with or smoke, just because it is so concentrated and sticky, but it is useable at this point.

Step 6. Enjoy, put on-top of bong or w/e
